Lenten Retreat

The 2010 Annual Retreat will be held from Friday March 12th, 17h30 to after lunch on Sunday March 14th. The Leader will be Canon Alan Amos, OBE. Father Alan is priest-in-charge at Saint Mary’s, Newington, in the Diocese of Canterbury, UK. He is Canon Emertius of Rochester Cathedral, and in previous ministries has been Trust Chaplain at Medway NHS Trust, Co-Principal at South East Institute for Theological Education and Principal at Canterbury School of Ministry. The subject will be “Recreation”.

Total cost about €78 per person. Those not sleeping at Notre Dame de Laghet will pay for whatever meals are taken (lunch €14.50, dinner €12).

About the season before Easter

SUNDAY MARCH 9th marks the beginning of the final fortnight of Lent which is called PASSIONTIDE.
We veil crosses, pictures & statues for this time.

THE GREAT WEEK OF THE YEAR
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on MARCH 16th.
Holy Week /Easter is first and foremost a time for the Community of Faith to convene itself in solemn celebration of those events from which we draw our life.

The celebrant of the Palm Sunday Liturgy will be our Diocesan Bishop.

The Chrism Mass
This is the Eucharist at which the Holy Oils are blessed by the Bishop and priestly vows are renewed; it will be celebrated at Holy Trinity on the Tuesday of Holy Week at 11 a.m.

Liturgy of the Light

The Liturgy of the Light is celebrated most Saturdays from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. with thirty minutes of silence, prayers and music in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Ash Wednesday

The holy Season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, which falls this year on 21 February.

The Liturgy for the Day will be celebrated at Holy Trinity at 10h30 and at 18h30. The Liturgy will also be celebrated at Saint Hugh’s in Vence at 12h.
