On Saturday, October 8 at 20h there will be a concert at Holy Trinity Church in Nice in aid of the church’s 150 anniversary refurbishment project.
The concert will feature a Belgian virtuoso soloist, Glenn Van Looy, and the Antibes-based BRASS BAND MEDITERRANEE (music director, Gerard Hostein) with guest conductor, Roy Terry.
The soloist is 19 year old Belgian euphonium player, Glenn Van Loy. Since 2005 he has won prestigious solo competitions in France, the UK, Belgium (where he performed with the Belgian Philharmonic Orchestra), Australia and Finland.
The conductor, Roy Terry, is a highly experienced brass band specialist who has conducted two London-based bands and has played a major role in the development of French brass bands.
The group will be playing classical, sacred and popular music, including music by Elgar (Nimrod), Gustav Holst and Malcolm Arnold.
Glenn Van Loy will be giving the first performance in France of a Euphonium concerto by the English composer, John Golland.
Tickets cost 10 euros (including interval refreshment) and are available at the door from 18h or in advance by contacting Pat Fortune (06.18.86.63.46) or Geoff Treloar (06.16.18.62.81).
