Special music at service on 27 July

August 9, 2008

Below is a photo taken by Simon during the service and a brief statement from the pew slip.

We are honoured to have with us this morning the Choir of the Harrow Young Musicians.

The Choir is under the direction of Mark Gooding.

The choral music is presented, not as a concert, but as an integral part of the movement of the Liturgy.

As we prepare for worship:
Henry Purcell Thou knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts

During Holy Communion:
William Byrd Ave Verum Corpus
Benjamin Britten Hymn to the Virgin

Before the Dismissal:
Mark Gooding Ave Maris Stella

The Music for Organ today is by the French Composer Louis Vierne, for 37 years, organist at Notre Dame de Paris. He was born “legally blind” which fact seemed only to enhance his remarkable gift of music.
